Brief:

The design brief was to build a spirited, colourful, and energetic interior scheme for the home of a young & growing family—infusing deep mid-century retro warmth while ensuring every room maintained a unique, functional identity.

The Home Library: Bespoke Walnut Craftsmanship

Designed as a quiet retreat for an extensive collection of literature, the home library features floor-to-ceiling bespoke walnut bookcases. To navigate the verticality of the room, our studio engineered a matching custom timber ladder that glides seamlessly across a integrated rail system.

The room's cozy footprint is anchored by two mid-century retro reading chairs detailed with solid walnut arms. These statement seats sit on a highly tactile cowhide rug, bringing a layer of raw, organic texture into the structured room.

The Living Room: A Study in High-Impact Eclecticism

In the main family living area, we prioritized structured comfort and bold designer accents. The seating consists of rich, deep tan leather sofas chosen specifically to develop a beautiful patina with family use.

The sofas are arranged over a vibrant, multi-coloured Paul Smith area rug, which injects a playful graphic energy into the space. To provide scale and architectural focus, we procured an oversized, room-sized 'desk style' floor lamp by Flos, casting a dramatic, adjustable pool of warm light across the lounge.

Executive & Social Spaces: From Productive to Playful

The remaining zones of the Clapham townhouse cater directly to distinct adult dynamics:

His & Hers Home Office: A dual-workstation workspace utilizing a sophisticated sage green and rich walnut colour scheme. This palette fosters deep focus while remaining tied to the organic, warm timber aesthetic running throughout the property.

The Games Room: Designed strictly as an adult playroom, this social space features soothing duck egg blue walls. The room is fully fitted to house a professional slate pool table, a vintage arcade pinball machine, and a competitive dartboard setup—providing a vibrant, late-night entertaining zone away from the children's bedrooms.
