Brief:

The brief was to transform a spacious guest bedroom into an elegant, contemporary sanctuary. We curated a sophisticated, upscale take on a coastal theme—avoiding predictable nautical motifs in favour of a serene, high-end boutique hotel aesthetic.

A Cool, Layered Coastal Palette:

The foundations of the room rely on a calm, neutral colour scheme of soft greys, warm taupes, and crisp whites. This understated base mimics the tones of a misty shoreline, bringing a sense of vast, quiet luxury to the space. To elevate the contemporary feel, we integrated polished silver metal finishes across the lighting and hardware, introducing a crisp, reflective contrast that captures the light.

Architectural Scale & Textural Drama:

To ground the sleeping area and add immediate drama against the high ceilings, we designed a tall, dark grey statement buttoned headboard. This structural focal point is beautifully contrasted by crisp white bed linen, a tailored taupe throw, and bespoke panel-detail accent cushions.

Flanking the bed, custom dark bedside tables provide a deep, grounding weight to the otherwise airy layout. For the window dressings, we specified luxurious, full-length cascading curtains topped with dramatic, tailored statement pelmets. This traditional sartorial detail adds immediate architectural framework to the glazing.

Light, Reflection & Private Lounging:

To maximise natural daylight and add depth to the room, full-length mirrors were strategically installed behind two elegant white occasional chairs. This clever placement creates a beautiful layered effect and bounces light into the room’s deeper corners.

In a dedicated corner of the suite, a plush chaise longue offers a private reading retreat. Positioned directly above it, a large-scale canvas artwork depicting rolling ocean waves serves as the visual anchor for the room's subtle, elevated coastal narrative.
