The Brief: A Statement Entertainment Haven

The brief for this high-end Esher residence was to design and execute a statement games room tailored perfectly to the clients’ curated collection of games. The space needed to function as a dynamic hub for hosting large-scale social entertainment, winding down, and playing a varied assortment of games. Crucially, the games themselves had to take centre stage, supported by cool, modern surroundings infused with vibrant, playful splashes of colour for both players and spectators to enjoy.

The Design Strategy & Execution

To balance the energetic atmosphere of a games lounge with the sophisticated comfort of a luxury Surrey home, our interior design and procurement team executed a high-texture, zoned architectural layout:

Tactile Wall Treatments & Textures: We wrapped the main walls in a cool grey linen wallpaper to introduce subtle, acoustics-softening texture. To separate the zones, we specified an exquisite shimmer strata wallpaper to accent the bespoke bar area, adding an immediate layer of low-key glamour and visual interest.

The Playful Colour Script: To make the main gaming elements pop, we introduced bold, high-contrast colours that seamlessly tie the room into the wider home. The central pool table was custom-ordered with a midnight blue cloth, brilliantly paired with striking, bright orange bar stools. These vibrant tones intentionally mirror the artwork and sofas in the adjacent formal living room, creating absolute ground-floor fluidity.

Flooring & Bespoke Spectator Bar: For a sleek, contemporary foundation capable of withstanding heavy footfall, we specified large square grey floor tiles. We then designed and built a bespoke luxury bar area, flawlessly equipped for serving refreshments and perfectly positioned to accommodate spectating guests during tournament play.
