The Brief: An Unforgettable, Music-Infused Statement Space
The brief for this striking Chelsea mews house was to craft a vibrant, high-fidelity living and dining room inspired by the legendary rock heritage of the Rolling Stones. My clients have a deep love for music and an extensive art collection—required a dramatic space defined by bright colours, unapologetic retro finishes, and a high-spec entertaining layout. Every element of the dual-zone space needed to reflect their energetic personalities while satisfying the practical, fluid needs of a modern city home.
The Design & Procurement Strategy
1. The Dramatic "Rock & Roll" Dining & Bar Zone
To deliver a jaw-dropping focal point for dinner parties, the dining area was treated as an immersive, high-concept entertainment zone:
The Iconic Feature Wall: We sourced and hung a provocative, statement-making red lips wallpaper across the dining zone, acting as a direct, sophisticated nod to the iconic Rolling Stones tongue-and-lips motif.
Bespoke Entertaining Joinery: We designed and built a multi-functional custom kitchen island paired with a sleek, bespoke bar serving sideboard. This allows the clients to seamlessly transition from hosting casual drinks to serving formal dinners.
Vibrant Accents: The entertainment hub is energized by a curated collection of colourful retro bar stools, introducing immediate movement and functional seating.
2. The High-Texture, Personalized Living Lounge
The living room area balances ultimate comfort with an intimately tailored gallery aesthetic:
Tactile Seating Layering: We anchored the main lounge area with sumptuously soft, deep velvet upholstered sofas that introduce a sophisticated, late-night rock lounge texture.
Bespoke Album Soft Furnishings: To weave the clients' identities directly into the design, we curated a series of custom-made scatter cushions featuring bespoke prints of their absolute favourite vinyl music covers.
Art Curation: The walls function as a sleek, contemporary canvas where the couple’s premium music art collection and heritage concert prints are flawlessly illuminated.
