The Brief: Harmonizing Heritage Volumes with Bespoke Continuity

The brief for this unique mock barn conversion was to design and project manage a complete master bedroom transformation that feels beautifully classic yet distinctively contemporary. The layout required a sophisticated, mainly neutral colour scheme lifted by a highly strategic, elegant splash of colour. Crucially, because the client possessed cherished, existing heirloom furniture pieces that had to remain, every single newly introduced piece of cabinetry and furniture had to be completely bespoke and engineered to match the existing timber finishes and profiles flawlessly.

The Design Strategy & Execution

1. Specialist Textile Procurement & Colour Scripting

To introduce visual interest and an immediate sense of luxury into the barn's generous spatial proportions, our design team curated an intricate textile layers scheme:

The Textile Blend: We mixed a premium blend of plain and patterned fabrics across the room's soft furnishings, adding deep tactile texture while maintaining a serene backdrop.

The Discrete Splash of Colour: To deliver the requested splash of colour with absolute subtlety, we introduced a rich, vibrant turquoise. Rather than overwhelming the space, the turquoise was meticulously engineered into the slim return panels of the handmade curtains and Roman blinds.

Tailored Cushion Piping: The rich turquoise theme was carried onto the bed dressing, applied precisely to the reverse backs and detailed piping of the custom cushions for a discrete designer finish.

2. Bespoke Cabinetry Integration & Material Shifting

To maximize storage and seamlessly bridge the gap between the existing furniture and the new architecture, we executed an advanced joinery design:

Furniture Matching: Our craftsman analyzed the timber grains, edge profiles, and finishes of the client’s existing furniture pieces to ensure all newly built elements offered a perfect, indistinguishable match.

The Silk Wallpaper Feature Wall: We wrapped the main architectural bedhead wall in an exquisite, high-end neutral silk wallpaper.

Concealed Wardrobe Architecture: Against this feature wall, we designed and installed bespoke built-in wardrobes. To achieve an ultra-luxurious, completely seamless finish, the beautiful silk wallpaper was masterfully incorporated directly onto the wardrobe door fronts, allowing the storage to effortlessly blend into the wall graphics.
