The Brief: Contemporary Aesthetics Meets Barn Scale

The brief for this unique mock barn conversion was to design and execute a complete interior scheme that celebrates the property's soaring, modern architectural style while establishing a deeply relaxing, comfortable family home. The final design needed to balance sleek contemporary lines with the practical, hard-wearing needs of daily life, transforming a large-volume space into an intimate and sophisticated sanctuary.

The Design Strategy & Execution

To soften the dramatic architectural lines of the barn conversion without losing its modern edge, we designed, procured, project managed & curated a precise textural and colour strategy:

Sophisticated Colour Mapping: We moved away from typical rustic barn tones, introducing a highly refined modern palette of slate, silver, grey, rich purple, and calming sage. This unique combination injects a distinct personality of our client and visual warmth into the open spaces.

Material Contrasts & Metallic Accents: To enhance the contemporary architecture, we layered a rich mix of modern fabrics with polished chrome accents.

Softening Architectural Lines: To prevent the modern elements and vast proportions from feeling clinical, we introduced elegant dark wood finishes. This choice acts as a visual anchor, softening the contemporary features and infusing the home with a grounded, cozy atmosphere.
